Overview

Rent heavy machinery with ease

Sheavy connects heavy equipment owners to businesses that need to rent heavy equipment, The deadlines and objectives of these businesses are usually tight. Through the platform, they can find the right machine quickly and easily. Equipment owners, meanwhile, gain greater exposure.

Problem

Construction companies often need to rent equipment for their projects, and they have a deadline to meet, they need a way to find equipment fast and compare prices.

Solution

Sheavy makes it easy enhances the most commonly used features of competing products to solve user challenges. Simplifying the process of renting, comparing and sharing them with the team.

Initial research

Initial research focused on better understanding user’s needs related to find and compare heavy machines and pain points related to the renting experience.

Survey

A survey was conducted on 12 participants to identify which products and features people are currently using and determine which features are essential to the renting process.

User Interviews

A series of in-depth interviews were then conducted on 5 participants to further identify pain points, frustrations, needs, and desires with existing products to determine how Sheavy could improve this experience.

On the basis of first impressions, interaction, design, and content, a comprehensive competitive audit was performed.

Define

Creating a dedicated renting experience

After conducting user interviews, all the participants responses were synthesized to identity themes, opportunities, and features that Sheavy could focus and improve upon.

Affinity Map

An affinity map was created to identify high level themes and group similar insights gained from the user interviews.

Persona

A persona was built based on the data collected to help drive decision making and keep the product focused on solving users pain points, frustrations, and goals.

User journey map

Journey maps were created based on personas goals & objectives.

Ideate

Delivering a seamless experience

To kick-off the design process, quick sketches helped me get ideas on paper to establish which elements were necessary for each screen. A low fidelity prototype was then created for initial user testing.

Rough sketches were done to get my initial thoughts on paper and brainstorm new ideas for specific UI elements.

Low-Fidelity Prototypes

Using the feedback and insights gained from research, analysis and sketching, a how-fidelity prototype was created to begin user testing.

Usability Study

An usability study was conducted to identify areas for improvement and to identify new ideas to satisfy user expectations, needs, and desires.

Building a bridge with functionality

Inspiration was drawn from similar heavy machines websites and other vehicles marketplace, with a focus on functionality & simplicity. The UI design reflects the colors of the heavy machinery to have a relate with the industry users, and built to address their needs.
